Member Privacy Policy


Your congregation has chosen to use our software and services (collectively, known as “Lightpost”), to help them organize and run their congregation. This page explains the ways in which we protect the security and privacy of their information.


Please note that both we and your congregation collect personal information about you. The details about what we collect and what we do with it are covered in our general Privacy Policy, which is incorporated herein by this reference. The information on this page specifically refers to data that is collected by users of Lightpost, namely, your congregation.


Data Ownership


Our customers retain all the rights to the data they store in Lightpost. In legal terms, we are considered a “Service Provider” as defined by the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), or a “Processor” as defined by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).


In short, the data stored in our databases by users of Lightpost is entrusted to us for safekeeping, but it is not our data.

The Types of Information Processed


Our users, such as your congregation, use Lightpost for processing many different types of data. The specifics of what your congregation stores in Lightpost will depend on how they have chosen to use Lightpost. However, it will likely include personal information about you, such as your name, contact information, attendance, contribution history, medical notes (such as allergies), or sensitive information such as notes about a counseling session.


We do not have the right to disclose what your congregation stores in Lightpost. If you have questions about the specifics about what your congregation stores about you, those questions will need to be directed to the congregation.

You may have legal rights in regard to how your congregation uses your personal information. These rights will vary depending on where you live, but generally, you have the right to:

Third Parties


We utilize several service providers for providing Lightpost. These companies are authorized to use your personal information only for the sole purpose of providing services to us, and are under the same legal and contractual obligations in regards to the security and privacy of our customer’s data us as we are to our customers.


Your congregation may choose to make use of our APIs or export functionality to share your information with other third parties. Please direct questions about your congregation’s use of other processors to your congregation.


Security
